An area colored black on the floor of the shower usually indicates the growth of black mold. This mold develops and grows in dark, warm and moist places. The black area can continue to expand and grow if are not cleaned immediately. Although the little black mold is attractive, it can also affect your health. Once you remove the black areas of the shower floor, prevent mold keeping it clean again.

Instructions

1. Let the hot water run in the shower for five to 10 minutes. The steam will help loosen dirt and debris.
2. Pour hydrogen peroxide directly on the spots of mold or fungus. A solution of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide attacks the mold immediately. Clean the black area with a damp cloth to remove mold.
3. Pour undiluted vinegar in a spray bottle if mildew stains remain. Spray the vinegar directly on it. Allow to air dry and then clean the surface of the shower with a damp cloth.
4. Mix 1 cup of chlorine bleach to 1 gallon (4 liters) of warm water in a large bowl to kill mold if the stains are still present. Dip a stiff brush into the solution and rub the area. Let the solution sit for two or three minutes and then rinse with clean water and a cloth.
5. Mix 3 tablespoons of white vinegar, 1 teaspoon borax and 2 cups hot water in a spray bottle if mold persists. Shake the bottle to mix the ingredients and then sprayed the solution on the mold on the shower floor. Scrub with a brush, let the solution sit on the stain for 15 minutes and then rinse with clean water.

Tips & Warnings

• When using the shower, turn on the fan or a window to remove excess of moisture in the air. Clean the shower area with a towel after each use to remove excess moisture.
