Clean window panes can quickly become a dreaded chore when you have to deal with scratches left behind. However, with a little preparation, the right technique and tools right, you can have crystals streak with each washing.

The cleaning solution

To clean your windows, all you need is a solution of soap and water to wash dishes. Mix 1 tbsp. soap with 2 gallons (10 L) of water in a large bucket. In cold weather, use warm water. With warm weather, use cold water. If the temperature is below freezing, add window cleaning solution to soapy water. Remember, never use hot water to wash windows.

Tools

A squeegee is key for windows rattle. You must purchase more small that you can find a metal frame and replaceable rubber sheet. It is also possible to cut a squeegee over a large size more small in order to fit the window panes. Change the rubber sheet brush once immediately shows signs of wear. Also need microfiber towels or other lint-free cloth to avoid this is to adhere to your windows clean.

Technical

Rub the glass with a sponge dipped in soap solution. Use a corner of the squeegee to make a line vertically tapered from the top corner of the window pane into the bottom corner. It starts at the top within the line vertically and pull the squeegee across the window pane horizontally, then clean the rubber flap with a cloth. Beyond the first horizontal line 2 inches (5 cm) and pull the squeegee across the window in a new horizontal line, bowing rubber tab down slightly to allow excess water to drain. Clean the rubber tab and repeat until the entire window has been cleaned. Clean the edges of the window with a lint-free cloth.

Remove stubborn dirt

Sometimes you can find paint stains, labels, stickers, grease or anything else attached to the window. You can remove dried paint wetting the window, then passes a new razor blade mounted on a stand, once on the glass. You can remove stickers or labels in the same way, but let them soak in a commercial adhesive remover solution such as Goof Off, first, to loosen. Removes grease by adding 1/2 cup of ammonia to the cleaning solution.
